In a Vase on Monday-Cornflowers

I haven’t done a Vase in a few weeks for various reasons, holidays, illnesses etc and most excitingly we have recently taken over an allotment, so this has pretty much zapped all of our free time, but has been fantastic and I am loving every minute!

This weeks Vase is a real treat for me as I adore cornflowers. The flowers that really make my heart sing are usually wildflowers to be honest. At the start of the season I decided to sow a whole planter with cornflowers and see what happened, and this is the result! They have been flowering like this for weeks…..

The rest of the Vase/Jam Jar is made up of a hardy geranium, ladies mantle and white campanula, with a sprig of Melissa/lemon balm. If like me you have a lemon balm herb in your garden, did you know it makes a light and refreshing tea? Just pour boiling water over a few sprigs and sweeten with honey.

  5. Beautiful. Love cornflowers also, but haven’t had much luck with them. You’ve reminded me to try again.
